What is a Piston Seal
Piston seals, also known as piston packings, are mounted on a piston head that moves through the bore of hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder tubes. The inner diameter of the seal fits into a static housing/groove within the piston head. These seals can be single-acting (designed for pressure from one side only) or double-acting (designed for pressure from both sides) and are typically used in sealing systems with bearings, which may be incorporated into the seal or housed separately. Single-acting seals can also be mounted back-to-back on a piston head in separate grooves to create a double-acting arrangement.
